The Rocket City Space Pioneers (RCSP), the Huntsville-centric team competing in the $30 million Google Lunar X PRIZE competition, invite you to launch a rocket from Rocket City to the moon, land on the moon and explore the moon to meet your mission objectives. RCSP’s new iPad game is now available at the App Store. The game can be downloaded at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/rocket-city-space-pioneers/id481158783?mt=8.
RCSP has released a free interactive game designed and developed by team member Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) that will allow participants to choose their mission and skill level, and ultimately test their skills in the areas of launching rockets to the moon, landing landers on the moon and racing rovers on the moon.
There are many challenges along the way, and AMA has captured all the technical and fun elements to make it a hit for all ages, according to RCSP Team Leader Tim Pickens.
“People ask us all the time how they can get involved with the Rocket City Space Pioneers,” said Pickens. “We expect this game to generate a lot of excitement about our future mission, as well as our team in general. It is fun for all ages. We are fortunate to have a team member that can provide this fun and educational resource for us that is designed using physics-based modeling, which is critical for captivating technical audiences in this day and time.”
AMA provides technical services in engineering, information technology, visualization and business analytics in the areas of aerospace, defense, automotive, financial services, healthcare and packaging.
Dr. Ken Smith, vice president of AMA’s Huntsville Operations, said, “We are passionate about the future of aerospace and eager to meet challenges with both sound engineering solutions and innovative visualizations. This is a unique opportunity for AMA to get involved with the Rocket City Space Pioneers. We are glad we can provide this mobile application that can connect people of all ages from all over the world to the team.”
Dr. Sanjay Gowda, chief innovation officer of AMA, added, “We have been a leading provider of mobile applications and multimedia for NASA and are excited to bring our creative energy to the Rocket City Space Pioneers. We have an entire division focused on multimedia solutions called AMA Studios (http://www.amastudios.com/). We are dedicated to helping achieve our nation’s goals in space and at home. We strongly support Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and believe it is key to our nation’s leadership in space. The Rocket City Pioneers iPad app demonstrates how STEM can be engaging.”
